Dalian Malanhe Wastewater Treatment Plant

In 2000, Degrémont, with financing by the World Bank, built the Dalian Malanhe Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant, using Degrémont patented technologies, has a daily capacity of 120,000 cubic meters and occupies only 4.3 hectares of land making the plant cost-effective.

This project is the first of its kind in China to adopt Degrémont's advanced technologies, Biofor® and Sedipac 3D® sedimentation. The technologies are compact and effective, which is crucial to preserving Dalian’s scenery area of Xinghai bay square. The treated wastewater is reused for watering the uptown landscape.

The Malanhe plant is a reference in terms of design, operation and water resource protection. It is designed to be compact and does not need secondary sedimentation after biological treatment. The plant does not produce sludge reflux, has a high filtration velocity of 20 meters per hour and has a stable process and flexibility to inlet water flow variation.
