Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) is one of Asia's largest chemical and petrochemical platforms. Located north of Hangzhou Bay, Shanghai, SCIP offers companies and investors a working industrial platform backed with an integrated services which like water, energy and waste management, as well as logistics, environmental protection facilities, public facilities and administrative services.


At SCIP, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT supply drinking and industrial water, treat highly polluted effluents and manage hazardous waste. The goal is to reduce industry’s impact on the environment by preventing pollution.


SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s complete range of expertise is represented within SCIP through its three subsidiaries: Sino French Water, SITA Waste and Degremont:


  • Sino French Water - supplies drinking, industrial water, desalted water and treats highly polluted effluents for dozens of world famous petrochemical companies, including: Sinopec, BP, Bayer, BASF, Mitsubishi, Lucite, Evonik, etc.
  • SITA Waste Services - runs China’s largest hazardous waste incinerator at the park, with a capacity of 60,000 tons per year.
  • Degrémont - designed and built SCIP’s wastewater treatment plant.


Aligned with the “Reduce, Recycle and Reuse” approach, the company not only abides by the rigorous international standards in terms of wastewater discharge and air emissions, it also transforms the part of the treated waste water to desalinated water, turns the intense heat into clean steam and feed them back to on-site plants as a renewable resource.
